This year marks the 50th anniversary of Bottega Veneta as well as the 15th anniversary of Creative Director Tomas Maier and this morning it was commemorated with the Spring/Summer 2017 women’s and men’s collection show in Milan.
Featuring sixteen and a half minutes of simple, timeless pieces with statement accents made by the finest craftsman, the 2017 collection is a ready-to-wear collection of private luxury. Bottega Veneta brought clean staple pieces that included a variety of pleated pieces in both skirts and cropped trousers, 50’s circle skirts, shift dresses, casual suits and trench jackets all of which had a sort of vintage inspiration to them. One thing I did notice that many of the pieces were not form-fitting which I liked – there were drapery style dresses and trousers and then there were structured pants and coats but nothing that clung too tightly. With the Hadid sisters and Lauren Hutton gracing the catwalk of the show in the historical Academia di Belle Arti de Brera of Milan, the show was one to see!
