You’ve seen it on the runway and the red carpet and it’s reaching the streets in a big way – the cut crease! The idea is that the crease of your eyelid is ‘cut’ or defined with a shade darker than the lid itself contrasting the traditional notion of a need to ‘blend, blend, and blend some more’.
I am in love with this look and have been trying a different version of it every day this past week. I do the crease first with a medium tone and blend that upwards whether it be a warm brown or a red/purple colour. After that, I take a thinner blending brush, add a darker colour right in the crease in a relatively thin line, and blend it just a wee bit being careful not to spread the colour to the lid. I finish it up by taking all the fall-out pigment off my lid, adding a concealer as a base and packing on a brighter brown, gold or purple depending on the look I’m going for! Sounds complicated but the more you do it, the easier it gets!
This look is definitely more intense making it something you may not wear everyday but it is something you can tone down a little bit for a day look or add a lot of contrast to for the club, depending on where you are wearing this look. A tutorial I found quite useful when learning this trick is this one by Jeannine;
I found this helpful in terms of figuring out what to do in terms of doing a cut crease and she shows a couple of cute tricks that made it easier! Now I can’t finish off this trend report without a little haul of some of my favourite cut crease looks so far this season so let’s take a look;
What do you think? Are you feeling the cut-crease or is it a trend you’re hoping fades quickly?
